Tankless vs Traditional Water Heaters: Which Is Right for Your Home?
If your water heater is on its way out, this is a good time to decide whether to replace it with the same type or switch.
Traditional tank water heaters
A tank keeps a set amount of hot water ready at all times. They cost less upfront and are simple to repair, but you can run out of hot water during heavy use, and the tank keeps using energy to stay hot even when no one needs it.
Tankless water heaters
A tankless unit heats water on demand, so you get a steady supply without a large tank taking up space. They tend to last longer and use less energy over time, but they cost more to install and may need an upgraded gas line or electrical circuit.
Our take
For a smaller household with predictable hot water use, a well-maintained tank unit is often the more affordable choice. For a larger household, or anyone tired of running out of hot water, a tankless unit usually pays for itself over time. We are happy to look at your home and give you a straight answer either way.
